Our BCBAs conduct functional behavior assessments and/or analyses when a client presents with maladaptive behaviors.
Information obtained from these assessments/analyses is then used to inform the development of a function-based behavior reduction plan. These behavior plans often include recommendations for antecedent-based interventions, protocols for the consistent management of maladaptive behaviors when they do occur, and protocols for teaching functional alternatives to maladaptive behavior (e.g., asking for a break rather than engaging in maladaptive behavior to achieve a break from tasks).
